Topic: Modelling the Solidoodle... just showing off really.
Many times I get these ideas for mods to the Solidoodle, and it's those times that I wish I had an accurate model of my SD3, to help me visualize and work on these mods.
To that extent I decided to make a detailed model of my SD3 as it stands to day. At the same time, it's good Solidworks practice. With the exceptions of the screws and the "E" retaining clips, everything else was modeled from scratch. Everything was measured off the actual printer, and is accurate to within 1/2mm.
So far I spent about 15 hours modelling the printer and it's about 65% complete. I still have to do the "Y" belts, MK2A bed heater, pillow block, the RAMPS electronics, PSU, and chain guide.
Once it's finished I'll have the starting point for all my mods. I have this new idea for a "Y" drive that is completely different than the traditional Solidoodle design. Stay tunes.
For now some pix of the work in progress
