It's not crap it is just limited in that it isn't all metal so your stuck printing PLA & ABS. The SD hot end is also not nearly as precise as an all metal hotend because they have a much longer transition area. Many users have had no problems with stock hot ends but if you do encounter a clog they are much more difficult to take apart than an all metal hot end such as the E3d.
In conclusion, SD (in my opinion) could for very little extra cost at least offer an all metal hot end as an optional upgrade.
