Topic: odd results when printing multi objects scaled dif

I have done multi objects at once b4 no prob but tried 3 dif objects (small) at different rescaling each. the raft support etc laid fine then when about 3rd layer started with model perimeters all 3 foot prints shifted towards left rear of bed about a half inch so had to kill job and redo it one item at a time.

anyone else had this happen? see my signiture for what I use.

Re: odd results when printing multi objects scaled dif

I don't think that has anthing to do with the scaling of your objects.  I print multiple objects scaled differently all the time.  You can probably verify this by looking at the 3D preview of the Gcode.  Does it look right, or does it have that jump to the rear.  I'd bet it normal.

Your problem is most likely due to some binding, or (more likely) the "Y" stepper glitched (ran hot or something).  If don't already have a fan on your board, put one on it, and put some mini heatsinks on the steppers as well.

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...

no it done fine 1 at a time in same spot. maybe something else I was doing on puter caused it to skip to new location. it made no noise just started building in dif area. never had it do that b4 or since

Re: odd results when printing multi objects scaled dif

Alternatively it sounds like the nozzle is hitting one of those islands cold, and this is leading to missed steps - did any of the individual parts curl or have lumps/artifacts sticking out? Is this repeatable or did it just happen once?

If it happens every time for that particular slice, check the g-code preview. If this looks fine, then re-slice with a different part layout (swap them around, put them closer together, etc.) - it could be the same physical/thermal issue keeps happening due to the order the islands are done in - this would at least change the problem if it is physical...

only done it one time so kinda hard to pin point. and yes I tried all the ideas posted as that fixes similar issues lots
