Topic: Repetier Manual Control (S4) Problem

I just got done replacing my entire hot end assembly (S4) due to a clog that could not be removed.  However, now that the new hot end assembly is replaced I wanted to re-level and calibrate the system, but it appears that the S4 is not responding to some of the controls under the "Manual Control" tab in the Repetier software.

The extruder and print bed will Heat, and the system will Home.  But the "Extrude" and "Retract" buttons for the filament are not responding, and the individual +/- X, Y, and Z buttons will not respond.

Any help or thoughts to this problem are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You say the hot end is heating...are you seeing that the temperature reading(via the thermistor) is also registering properly?  Double-check the thermistor wiring if not...

Also, are you getting any error notices in the log area?

+1 you have a bad connection and the extruder is getting a cold extrusion error.

The temperature control and reading seem to be fine.  No, I am not seeing any error messages.

Wardjr,
Yep...I would have bet cold extrusion or temp runaway...

OK...Silly question; but have you tried completely powering down and reconnecting with RH?

I did try the compete power down, and it seems to have helped a little.  It's strange, because after the power down, the "Extrude", "Retract", and +/- Z buttons are now responding.  However, the +/- X and Y buttons are still not working.

Glad that helped a little...very strange, though.

Power down one more time and "wiggle check" all of your board and other connectors with power off and maybe even try switching out the USB cable(doubt that's it).

Baud rate at 250000?

Beyond that I'm afraid I'm stumped sad

More strangeness...did your wiggle check idea, and now the +/-Y buttons are back responding.  Only the X buttons are not working.  I guess I'll just keep wiggling.  Maybe something will happen.

Baud rate is actually 115200.

Really appreciate the help with this.

Re: Repetier Manual Control (S4) Problem

I would go to the Repeiter site, upgrade to the newest version and see what happens. IT will ask you a bunch of questions on startup like filament diameter (1.75) and the bed size but thats it.

Other then that, try doing a print and see what happens. Also look at the feed gear and see if its moving when you hit the feed button of your still having that problem

Definitely wiggle the hot end / thermistor connectors as well, since prior to the switch out, you had control and were printing.  I know that probably does not make sense, but stranger things have happened smile
