Topic: extruder (extrusion stepper) calibrationquestion.

Okay so after several tests I think I got the extrusion steps set up almost perfectly like in the tutorial here:
http://www.soliwiki.com/Calibration_of_ … on_stepper
wiki.solidoodle.com/extruder-calibration

Thing is, I noticed and through several tests confirmed this, that the speed you need depends on the extruder head temperature setting you use.

When running at 195C the perfect speed seems to be 109.82,
while running  at 215C its 105.89.

This isn't mentioned in the articles. Can anyone explain why this is so?

Also, are there other things that if I change I'll need to recalculate how many steps I need? Like will changing the z layer height (z resolution) require a different stepper speed?
I've already spend a lot of time and filament for this test, if someone knows the answer already and can tell me that would be very nice.

Re: extruder (extrusion stepper) calibrationquestion.

some slic3r settings readjust associated settings to compensate usually. I noticed. e.g. layer thickness tweaks speeds etc.

my box test was near perfect yet sometimes its hard to get full solid perimeters in other thickness like when going from .01mm to .03mm etc I see gaps in between wall layers or holes on surface seems due to flow/speed rates. but if change color of filament it may over fill layers. go figure

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

Step's has little to do with speed.  You are adjusting how many steps the motor makes to pull a mm of filament.  You want to adjust this using the temp you'd normally print at.
A guess as to the difference caused by temps is the colder temp was too cold and filament wasn't moving through the extruder gear properly.
