Topic: Solidoodle 2 not communicating

Hi
I have a Solidoodle 2 printer i have had for 2 years, it had been working fine. i havent used it for a couple of months now and reconnected it to start using it again. i am now having communications problems i believe, all the baud rates etc are set the same on both sides printer/computer, but when i try using pronterface it brings up all this garbage text after it says connecting,,,,,
i then installed repetier and with this program it has a communications error.
so i believe it is a communications problem,
So i went and downloaded the firmware to reset/update the firmware but when i am in the dos windows trying to update it keeps asking to press the reset button, even though i have the pins in the centre of the board jumpered. And i keep pressing the reset button but nothing happens.
So the question is is my board stuffed? can i fix it or do i just bin this Solidoodle 2 printer.

I have tried this on my win8 pro 64bit, may win7 pro 64bit and even on my old win xp pro 32bit. but all the same results.

Thanks.

Bill

Re: Solidoodle 2 not communicating

Hi Satman49,
i see that speed but, that is not available on the com port on the computer it only has 230400, but don't they have to be the same speed baud rate on both sides?? also the version of repetier i am usings is 0.85b i have read that upgrading to a newer version has made some peoples printers not work.

Thanks

Bill

Update: i changed it to 250000, even though the comport is set for 230400, and it works.
Why i don't know because they are at different speed baud rates.

Thanks again for your help

Bill

Yup, baud rate would be step one for serial garbage.
