Topic: ABS slurry works excellent!

I had been using hairspray the past couple months to keep my pieces sticking. Yesterday for the first time I needed to make a fan for an electric motor that was about 6 inches wide and 2 tall, At first the hair spray wouldnt hold it, about mid print itd catch and ruin. Tried the abs slurry. Holy cow was i missing out. really helps rid of warping too but my goodness it works wonders. If you havent tried it, go do it now.

Re: ABS slurry works excellent!

It's pretty great. It's like a really thin raft but smoother than grabs to the bed plate. So great

I have been using Elmer Disappearing Purple School Glue stick with great results even for bigger parts. I had issues with ABS slurry and big parts, I had parts that were really stuck and I broke a couple of glass plates. If the part gets stuck with the glue is just matter of running some water on the base of the glass plate.

Re: ABS slurry works excellent!

Don't bother scraping your glass plates, man. You could hurt yourself (I almost lacerated my wrist once). Throw the glass in the freezer and wait for a thud - stuff pops right off and doesn't warp. I've done this for a variety of print sizes. If you put down a room temperature paper towel to prevent direct contact with the cold freezer floor, your glass won't crack even if it is right off the bed, assuming sufficient thickness. I just use glass I get cut at Lowes. If they cut it sharp on one edge, I make them re-do it, because it can really, really injure someone to have 8 inches of sharp glass laying around somewhere.

I also don't attempt scraping directly off the Solidoodle bed anymore either. Got tired of having to re-balance the bed so frequently.

Re: ABS slurry works excellent!

I ordered Tempered glass and Ive been using the purple glue stick and its amazing! Combined with the glass I no longer get warped bottoms and it scrapes right off. But you HAVE to use the purple glue. I used what looked like the exact same stick and it was the white/ clear stuff and didnt work at all.

When getting it off the best was is to use an Exacto or anything just to give you enough to get the supplied scraper under it. And from there its off it in about 5 seconds. Brute force is not the answer.
