Topic: Help with FollowMe tool

Never a big fan of the follow me tool in Sketch Up, but now I need to make a pin with a curved top. The only way I can see to do this is with the FollowMe tool...

I can get it to follow fine, just not the curved top.... :-(

Can anyone please help...

(I so need to learn how to design in openscad)

It is your figure there is defect, i tryed whit it and the top disapear  i make a new one like yours and it works fine...

Ok, so I gave up on SketchUp and downloaded openscad.

Including the time to download, figuring out how to use it, till I got a design I was happy with. I spent maybe 30-45mins, a lot less than I spent fighting SketchUp yesterday.

Here is what i did in openscad:

cylinder(h=2,d1=20,d2=20,$fn=100);

cylinder(h=8,r1=3.6,r2=3.6,$fn=50);

translate([0, 0, 8])
sphere(r = 3.6,$fn=50);

}
---

Pic shows what I ended up with :-)

I have used SketchUp for some time (still great to make something quick and easy) but I often find myself fighting the quirks and strange slicer errors that SketchUp can give...

I had the same problem as this when trying to make a small sphere for the top of a bishop (Chess pieces) I just found out that apparently the follow me tool has issues creating small curved surfaces so if you build the piece on a larger scale and then scale it down it will work.  (I haven't been able to try this yet)
