Topic: SD3 extruder temp shuts off after starting print job.

So recently I upgrade repetier host to version 1.0.3. After a few prints I get a extruder temp problem. The extruder will stay at the desired temp until I start the print and then the extruder starts to cool down like it turns itself off. The only way to get it back on is to cancel the print and turn it back on.

I tried gong back to older versions of repetier host but get the same result. Sometime it won't do it until the print is somewhere in the middle. Does this seem like a printer problem or a software problem?

I have E3d Hotend installed fyi

Sounds like a bad connection.  Most likely on the thermistor but I'd check the heat cartridge wires also.  Take a look at your temp chart.

Well but it seems weird it would only shut it the temp off when the print is started. Then when the job is killed it can come back on that doesn't seem like a connection issue to me.

Maybe not, but when things move and wiggle wires that is when bad connections show up and your symptoms match that scenario.

Yeah so maybe was just a bad connection messed with it a little bit and now it doesn't work at all. Need to get better connectors

Or just remove those connectors at the thermistor and nozzle and just twist the wires together and tape them up. 
It is a pain to disconnect but makes for quick testing and honestly they last longer than any type of plug or connector I have ever used.

Those connectors add:
* Potential loose connection (contact-contact)
* Potential stress concentration point (crimps, both sides)
* Unsupported mass
To a cable in a fairly high-vibration environment.

If you don't need the convenience, get rid of them and tape everything down! smile
