Topic: Help me unclog my PEEK barrel + nozzle

I tried my first print with PLA. Long story short, there is a clog in the PEEK barrel and nozzle. I am looking to ship my Solidoodle 3 extruder + jigsaw to you to unclog and ship back to me. I will of course pay for return shipping and service fees. Feel free to post here, PM me, or email me at [email protected]

Or upgrade to a better extruder and hotend.

I am unsure of how to unclog it myself. I have taken the whole jigsaw apart but the plastic in the PEEK barrel has completely hardened.

I have already ordered a new fully assembled extruder from Solidoodle in the meantime but I could always get another one if it is better. The thing is that I would prefer to have everything be fully assembled so all I would have to do is screw the 4 screws and be set. I had a lot of issue putting the jigsaw back together and the nozzle was crooked once i was able to put it all together

That is because the jigsaw is a very poorly designed extruder. The Lawsy MK5 is basically "4 screws and you're set" simple.

If the Solidoodle hotend got jammed within 2 hours, what do you expect buying a new Solidoodle hotend?

+1 on the E3D...get one and you're not likely to have to worry about clogs anymore.  If you order one more preassembled hot end from SD, then you'll have already have spent more $ than if you bought an E3D.

Lawsy's design is indeed awesome!  But I have to tell you that you did not need to disassemble the jigsaw to remove the hot end:

Re: Help me unclog my PEEK barrel + nozzle

@elmoret: I have never had a jam this bad before. I presumed it jammed because it was my first time printing with PLA

@IronMan: I opened the jigsaw to hopefully remove the jam that was above the peek barrel but I was wrong.

So I guess is anyone selling E3D v6 with all the necessary parts/screws/mounts?

Re: Help me unclog my PEEK barrel + nozzle

While you wait spend some time reading the WIKI about the firmware changes you will want to make.  You will also want to figure out how to print or buy an MK5 (V6 variant).

Re: Help me unclog my PEEK barrel + nozzle

I followed the instructions at wiki.solidoodle.com/hot-end-replacement to remove the hot end from my Solidoodle 2. I could see the ABS sticking out of the PEEK but it refused to come out even when gently pulled on with long nose pliers. I plugged it back in and cranked the temperature up to 210 C. The ABS expanded out of the PEEK! With long nose pliers I was then able to pull it out of the PEEK. I reassembled the extruder, inserted more ABS and tested. It now works!
