Topic: Repetier firmware/ host tips

So far, I'm happy with the repetier host, but a few things are not coming out right:

1. First few layers and last few layers have trouble bonding, resulting in the faces of the prints wanting to peel off.

2. The last layer (which is a flat face) comes out patchy with small holes in the print.

3. The print is centered on the repetier host, but the object is printed very closely to the edge when it transfers to the computer.

Also, how do you change the settings of the honeycomb patter? Do i have to open slic3r as an independent app?

Any highly reccomended settings that I should use?

Re: Repetier firmware/ host tips

Another issue is that, even though the object is centered in the software, the last print I did ran off the right side of the briny bed. Is there a way I can calibrate this better in settings?

Re: Repetier firmware/ host tips

OK, the issue is the pre-compiled binary has the the XY home (over the dump area) as 0,0. If you don't want to recompile the firmware with the correct geometry modifications then I think, in Slic3r, you can set the print area to 240x240 and the center to Y110 X134 and this will cause slicer to start the print in the physical middle of the bed.

BUT!!!

Be careful since you still only have a 200x200 print area you could inadvertently slice a larger model then the bed could fit.

Re: Repetier firmware/ host tips

So is it difficult to set the home as the correct 0,0 point? If it's too much work, would setting the dimensions to 240x240 stretch passed the 200,200 mark? Or will placing the object to the front left be the perfect position to start the print?

Yes, that will work as a temp solution.

Re: Repetier firmware/ host tips

you can change the home locaTIONS IN THE eepron config

Re: Repetier firmware/ host tips

changing the eeprom is pretty easy I've found, I open the eeprom settings (on the Mac version it's in the top menu bar "Printer", you have to be connected to it.  Double click any value and change away.  Not sure when it reloads the eeprom to the printer, when it connects?  When the printer restarts?  I don't know but it does.

Re: Repetier firmware/ host tips

it changes the settings on the printer when you close the dialog box.  On the other forums and in a link on my you-tube vid I have a sample eeprom that has decent xy center, but the z is offset m\for my printer and would have to be adjusted.

Did you ever fix this problem?  I am having the same issue......

Thanks

Re: Repetier firmware/ host tips

Yeah, you gotta set the x and y home position to negative integers in the EEPROM. Somewhere in the lines of -30.. You gotta eyeball it. Set them and manually move the head to 100, 100. If it's not centered, adjust the setting, home x, home y and move to 100,100 again

answer to question 1: and 2:
   increase extruder multiplier in slic3r
experiment with it ....set for example to 1.1
