Topic: Different thermistors

My e3d thermistor broke. (no surprise, the wires are so thin!) I am going to replace it with a EPCOS 100k thermistor. Is there any difference between the 200k thermistor provided besides firmware stuff? Whats the point of the high temp wire too? Do I need it?

Re: Different thermistors

The wires are thin on purpose, to reduce thermal mass and improve response time. If properly installed/strain relieved, they'll last forever. Some very smart folks designed the E3D...

You need either the high temp wire, or fiberglass insulation. The area near the heat block is too hot for the insulation on normal wires.
