Topic: Z axis antianti-backlash modification

I printed and installed one of the z axis backlash modifications from thingiverse.  I printed an object before and the same one after and I didn't really see a difference.

What is the anti-backlash supposed to fix on the z axis of this printer? I ask because in building a cnc  router I fixed backlash because all of the axes went in both of their directions in the course of a job.  On the SD4, I can see where the X and Y axes would need to have their backlash fixed,  but the Z axis pretty much travels in the same direction through the print.  Of course,  that could be a function of the prints I have been making.

You are making the assumption that gravity will always trump friction.  Also if you use z-lift it will keep things in the correct position.  I personally prefer the well-nut solution to z-axis backlash issues.

No problem,
Just go to your favorite hardware store and for a couple of bucks your set.  Any 5/16 Well-nut will do.  Just screw it on the top of the rod upside down till it touches the platform, add about a 1/4 turn and it won't budge.  The rubber takes up any play in the threads and if you don't like it your not really out anything.
