Topic: Trying to print Indicator mount and not getting expected results

I am trying to get my SD4 setup. It seems like the bed is getting hit by the head especially when starting out a piece so I was going to try the indicator leveling method, but when I print the mount for the indicator from the wiki, it comes out as attached. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Re: Trying to print Indicator mount and not getting expected results

You aren't doing anything wrong. One of the first things I printed was this and it came out exactly like that. No idea what the hell we are supposed to do with it. I assume it must work with the SD2 or SD3 with acrylic extruder. Look on thingiverse, there are others that work (rail mount.)

However, your problem is likely the Z-Axis. Get your bed level by eye (and the paper trick), then move the hot end to the center and do the paper trick, but adjust using the Z-stop adjustment. Do this while it is hot, or else it will the bed and the hot end will expand when printing and start digging into the bed again.

This is a good-enough approach so that you can get through a print to make a dial indicator holder.
