I am looking on how to increase print quality. I have everything I need to replace my carriage with lawsy's carriage, and I am hoping that will help. I am planning to install some sorta z screw mod in the future.

I am using a SD2 and e3d v6

Ulitmaker 2, a few repraps, Custom Big FFF 3D printer with heated chamber.

You are having lifting issues for sure. What surface are you printing on and what element are you using to aid adhesion? (i.e. glue, hairspray, etc.)
Seems like you need to adjust your extrusion multiplier and/or do a PID tuning. Both are covered the SoliWiki.com

But Lawsy's carriages are a massive upgrade either way. Instead of blowing $15(?) plus s&h to buy replacement printed parts from SD, why not have a setup where you can prepare for breakdowns?? Print the v2 carriages and you're set. And just to be safe, grab some new rods from McMasterCarr. Well worth the time, cash, and effort. Check the stickies in the "Hacks" section if you need more info.

For the bed I have just been using blue painters tape ( worked for PLA ). So hair spray, or an ABS slurry are two good options for bed adhesion? Also how do you level your bed? Dial indicator or paper?

Painters tape is not suitable for ABS. I use hairspray on glass.

Glass and hairspray/glue/slurry are all recommended for ABS. PLA also works good on this method, so I recommend going to your local glass store and get a few 6x6 squares 1/8" thick. You will want several because you will pretty much need a mallet to get the print off. The extras mean less down time. Set the glass aside to cool and the print will loosen eventually.

Dial indicator is good if you need exact perfection. I go the cheaper route with an old Chicago El Pass and a little trial and error. Please note that it takes a little more time to level the bed when you have glass on the bed, but this will help speed it along http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:176135
