Topic: SD2 extruding problems

My solidoodle 2 is getting jammed after every print, and the drive gear is not pushing any filament out.  Taking apart the acrylic is getting annoying, and i was wondering if anyone can help me prevent this.

I know that if you dont keep the material moving it will stay put, so I always extrude a little filiment manually every 4-5 mins that I'm not printing (maybe even sooner) and I keep my idle time pretty low too.

Also, do yourself a favor and buy an E3D from Filastruder.com
You actually have to try pretty hard to clog them. The MK5 extruder is one of the best out there. They are also available for purchase at Filastruder for $5

Thanks for both of your answers, but I was looking at the E3D and saw that the set up is kind of long and seems scary.  Is it actually that difficult?

It all depends on your desire to tinker.  The physical installation isn't bad  but depending on what board you have, firmware changes can be challenging.  Either way plenty of people have figured it out so I'm sure you can as well.
