Topic: SD not answering emails?

I am trying to work out numerous issues with my SD and lately my emails are going unanswered.

I know they were having issues previously with their email but I would assume that was worked out by now.

I sent a string of emails and haven't had a reply in about 10 days which I don't think is expecting too much on my part.

My last replys consisted only of "you have our word your issues will be fixed", yeah right.

Sorry to sound so bitter but this is getting really old and it sounds like I'm not the only one feeling like they fell through the cracks.

It has been almost 6 months now since ordering and the drama continues........  I guess I should just move on and consider this a lesson learned.

Re: SD not answering emails?

Its been 2 months and they still haven't sent parts to fix my damaged in shipping printer.

two. months. I've emailed then a couple times a week and just get empty promises.

must be nice to have plenty of time to design new printers, though!

Re: SD not answering emails?

Bad Karma man...... word will get around.

I have 2 friends that were ready to pull the trigger to buy one also but now they are looking in other directions and waiting to see how I get my issues sorted.  Me too.

Re: SD not answering emails?

I emailed on the 16th Regarding my printer being damaged in Transit.
which was a friday, it was from my work email account which was different to the one that my order went through as.

On the Monday 19th i had no responce, so i  emailed from the same email as my order was through.

On the 21st i got notification of parts being sent with tracking number (From the Ordering System)

3 days later i got an email from Support, there was an email trail in that email, which included a response to me, that i never received.

very weird.

Re: SD not answering emails?

Got a reply...

"We have been overwhelmed with customer service at e-mails due to our launch of a new 3D printer."

Guess old customers don't count as much, moneys already been gotten from them.  Caveat emptor.

Re: SD not answering emails?

I got another reply "you will get your solidoodle working, no Solidoodle is left behind."

That's just great, wonderful.  No timeline though, 1 week, 1 month another 6 months you're guess is a good as mine...... I am not holding my breath. Sigh!

Never experienced a company like this new or not.

Re: SD not answering emails?

I’ve asked and gotten no response on why it has taken more 2 weeks for 3 rolls of filament to ship. Very poor customer service is never a good sign!

Re: SD not answering emails?

Yeah, the quote "No Solidoodle will be left behind" is a joke as many of us have ALREADY been left behind with machines not complete or broken from the get go.

If a company can't keep up with demand it is not the consumers fault and they should not have to suffer with an incomplete product unless it was advertised that way, which it was not.

If an items is incomplete 6 months after you order it - I don't expect it will ever be.

Re: SD not answering emails?

My parts showed up today. I don't think SD even knew they shipped them.

Re: SD not answering emails?

Was it a z-axis stepper/screw?  I'm in communication with @solidoodlesupport now, so we'll see what happens.  I've detailed the problem, provided pictures/video of the defective part and prints w/banding, and now we'll just see what happens.

Yup! I'm changing the print carriage now, z-screw is next. I'll let you know if I have any issues.

Re: SD not answering emails?

If you can post a write-up of replacing the parts, I'm sure the community would appreciate the details (and me, of course).  Something like this shouldn't happen, but it does and the more that we know about it, the better we can serve our friends here on the forum.

Re: SD not answering emails?

Before starting, disconnect x-stepper and x-endstop.

0.) Remove extruder (I'd already done this, machine was down waiting on a new hot end)
1.) Loosen the 4 hose clamps on the guide rails.
2.) Slide the guide rails out the front (or back)
3.) Remove one of the bolts on each side holding the belts to the x-axis/print carriage.
4.) Remove X-axis/print carriage.
5.) Installation is reverse of removal.

No need to loosen the Y-stepper.
No need to loosen/remove the front pulleys.

Took about 15 minutes.

I also swapped the Z-rod, things got better but not perfect. I'm guessing the stepper shaft is bent? I can still see some deflection of the sheetmetal. Can't print for a few days, waiting on a hotend from qu-bd.com.

They've been on the ball today. Other weeks, not so much.

Re: SD not answering emails?

So did I.  Just got word from John.

Ken,
We'll send you a new lead screw asap.

Regards,
John

Now as to what ASAP means... that's up for definition depending on who you talk to.  Could be today, could be Monday.  Either way, I'm hoping that this will solve the issue.

elmoret,
you think it's the stepper shaft that's causing your wobble?  Didn't think those things warped that bad.

Not sure what else it could be. We'll see once I can print!

I'm getting the impression they are cleaning things up at the end of the month.  Start Dec. off right?

Repairs are dealt with by a combination of Management, support, manufacturing, and shipping. Sometimes this process is slow. We are working as hard as we can. We were having problems before because of a shortage of parts, and workers. Support itself has been shuffled around to better accommodate your order needs.

However, there is a limited number of parts that can be shipped out per day. Please understand that the are also other customers. We reply to all e-mails that we receive, so if your e-mail doesn't get a reply within 24 hours, you should consider it lost.

Unfortunately we cannot give strict time guarantees on any repairs at the moment, as our supply of critical parts has been low. Repair orders are usually dealt with same day, or at worst same week. However, we have suffered from issues with our shipping folks (some of whom are no longer with us) and because of this some mailed out parts were "Lost."

Please understand that we are doing everything in our power to help. Your parts will come, and soon. I wish I could guarantee a specific day.

Re: SD not answering emails?

John,
I wasn't harping on the issue, simply providing a point.

We of the forums are not your only customers, so it stands to reason that our request are taken in stride with all the numerous other requests that you receive.  The fact that you responded so quickly to my needs was more than admirable, and for that I am truly thankful.

Add to the fact that this is the holiday season and shipping anything can be a bear, I am grateful that I know the part will be on the way.

I can print.  That much is a blessing.  Some can't.  And if that means that I have to wait a little longer to get my part so someone else can get up and working then so be it.  I can still prototype my designs and provide basic prints that work ('cause I'm all about cookies this time of year and cookie dough is very forgiving).

Don't worry too much about time estimates for me.  I know you guys are doing your best.  Heck, I waited 5 months for my printer, a little longer won't hurt to ease an issue, that while not minor, doesn't hurt my ability to learn on this device.

I will however need more filament in the near future as learning takes resources.  I hear 3dprintergear is a good source and I may have to hit them up for some of that glow-in-the-dark, or color-changing stuff.

Either way I, for one, would like to publicly thank you and the Solidoodle staff for producing what I consider to be a game changer in my life, for dealing with all the issues that plague the 2nd gen machines as you update and upgrade production, and for being an all-around good sport in dealing with our short tempers and gripes about a revolutionary machine.

Thank you, John.
Ken

Well said!  I second this, and I'm waiting for a response from our good friend John myself.
