Topic: SD2 and Arduino Ramps 1.4 HELP

I have a SD2 that randomly one of the motors stopped responding, so in order to use the machine I decided to upgrade the machine to a Ramps 1.4 setup.

So right now I have a SD2 Motors and extruder with Arduino Mega 2560 R3 and Ramps 1.4

With a LCD 12864. Basically the following Kit was order, but i did not use the motors or extra SD card reader.

w3.sainsmart.com/3d-printing/3d-printkits/ramps-1-4-a4988-mega2560-r3-lcd-12864-3d-printer-controller-kit-for-reprap-1.html

So i have downloaded firmware and have been able to get the motors to respond, so i know I have things plugged in properly, but I cant seem to find the right firmware to get the LCD panel to work.

I would like to be able to print using an SD card.

Can anyone help, also should i then upgrade to the latest version of repieter or still use the older Solidoodle version.

Thanks for any help / support.

Re: SD2 and Arduino Ramps 1.4 HELP

You must enable the LCD and the SD in the configuration.h

Do a search through the text for "additional Features".  Under that heading you'll find your LCD and SD card option, and you need to turn them on.  The section that pertains to your controller is:
"REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER"

The recompile and flash the firmware.

P.S. I have basically the same LCD controller as you, and it has a builtin SD card slot (full size) on the back.  So in my case I didn't have to use the separate MicroSD card reader board.

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...
