Topic: Halo armament prints

While usually I'm a rather devout pacifist... I have a strange love for Halo's story and it's various bits of murderous kit.
Halo being a video game for those who don't know.

Anyway...
The pistol was taken directly from Halo 4's asset database and then edited by yours truly to be printable.
The battle rifle was not however, it was modelled by someone over at the 405th forums, it'll be just a few cm under a meter in total once finished.

Re: Halo armament prints

What's the maximum single-piece size you're printing?  What amount of infill for the large objects?

5

Re: Halo armament prints

Probably about 140 x 140.
Tis just a soli 2, so I don't have a huge space to work with.

Re: Halo armament prints

Serin,
As an aside, if you ever have longer barrels, don't print them. Model the holes for an equivalent piece of PVC.  You'll thank yourself later.

Re: Halo armament prints

Mmm indeed! I've seen that decision made and regretted enough to know better smile

And done.
Only took me 4 months tongue
Might reprint the blue part in the middle though, bit too glitchy for my liking.

@Serin Wow! I too am a Halo fan. Those are nice. Do you have any links to the files?

Re: Halo armament prints

I think I might be keeping this one to myself for a while, Antron, for purely selfish "want to be the first" reasons tongue
I do have a fair bit of Forerunner kit on my Thingiverse page however.

That said, if you google "adjutant" and "Halo" I'm sure you'll be able to work out how to extract the game models yourself smile

More progress.

Finally done.... With the LightRifle that is.

Now begins the annoying process of applying bog to fill the gaps and smooth out the z-wobble result.

I was trying to print a Halo pistol early last week but she started pulling on the far corners. Need to work on that though. smile

Excellent! Not the warping... But the attempting smile I wish you good luck comrade!
I'm sure the helpful folks here would be more than we willing to offer some advice for fixing warping issues.
My advice? If it's ABS set the bed at 110 and use lots of acetone/abs goop.

Re: Halo armament prints

I used to have all kinds of ABS sticking/curling/peeling problems. I too have to have the bed at 110. I also have a mirror with painters tape on it. And the key ingredient is glue stick. I heat up the bed with taped mirror then put a quick 1 layer of glue stick on the warm bed. That will last me a week or two.

I'm having some issues with my printer now so I still haven't had the chance to print any of your models yet Serin but, they are awesome. Keep it up.

Re: Halo armament prints

Next up in the Halo series: The Halo 4 Boltshot

The idea is to mimic the way that the weapon assembles in-game when it's picked up by the player.
I'll be slotting Neodymium magnets into the individual parts to hold them together and allow for disassembly.
This will act as a bit of a test-bed for doing the whole Light-rifle above in a similar way.
