Topic: Crazy prints

I haven't used my SD3 in a while but I fired it up last week and starting running a bunch of cylindrical parts. The first dozen or so were fine but I noticed they were starting to get sloppy and less round.

I figured I needed to do circle calibration as I have done in the past, so I did, and I went to test print a nickel test piece that I have successfully printed before. See attachment for what I get.  Some sections are ok, some parts have huge gaps and some parts just don't make any sense to me.

Any ideas?

What have you calibrated?

My SD3:  Clear plexiglass case, case heater, X axis stabilizer, Z axis stabilizer, thumb screws, filament guide, heatsinks on all motors, extruder fan, controller fan, heatsinks on motherboard, Y rod pillow block, USB and Power on/off switch, fully calibrated including trimpot tuning. Am I missing anything?

Y axis pulllies, belt tension on X and Y

Problem solved...sort of.

I've been meaning to switch to a older PC to run the SD, so I did, and with a fresh copy of Repetier it printed properly.

One thing I notice is the new extruder default is 215, my old one was 195 I think!

Re: Crazy prints

I noticed that too did you leave it at 215?  I set mine to 210.  I find that anyhigher and my ABS Material looks a little burnt.

Re: Crazy prints

I set it to 205, I suspect the 215 may be the appropriate default for the new metal extruder but not sure...

What kind of new metal extruder are you using?
