Topic: Trouble connecting

Just got the solidoodle and cannot get the com port / connection to work. it appears to work when i use the virtual port, but actually does nothing, no matter what com / virtual port it is linked to.

I used both the Serial_installer and Repetier. Im using an xp computer. i have followed all the instructions i can find any help would be appreciated.

In Repetier under the Config tab then printer settings.  The Reset on connect line needs to be disabled and then of course you need to have the correct com port selected and the correct driver installed.  Give that a shot and let us know where you end up.

And you have 3.5 .net framework installed and you installed the driver (serial_install.exe)?

Yes, I have fully reinstall both .net framework 3.5 and 4.0. but the "Found New Hardware" is not poping up, and I cannot find the device in device manager.

I have two identical PC's one of them connects up just fine and the other does exactly what you are describing.  I chalked it up to some other problems with that PC.  You could try these set of instructions http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/UnoDriversWindowsXP
Have you tried to contact SD Support with your problems?
