Topic: My printer will not print on my new pc, but works fine on my old one??

Ok so I have a 1st gen solidoodle 2. I got it when they first came out and setup repetier host to run it on my pc. I setup slic3r to slice it. I configured all of the settings manually and it has been running fine. The only major mod ive done is I replaced the z rod with a fine threaded rod. That too went without any problems. Fast forward to now. I just got a new pc. I downlead and install the solidoodle version of repetier host and all seems to be working fine. Printer connects fine. I can move the head and the bed fine. But after about 5 min of printing it just stops. The whole thing just freezes in place. Repetier host shows that the gcode is still being process and the job progress is still ticking down. Ok so I got bad file I thought. So I sliced up a different thing and tried to print it.  Same results after about 5 min the printer just freezes. So I went and manualy configured all of the settings in the printer tab to match my old ones. Same thing, 5 min of fine printing then it gets stuck. I hooked up my old pc and the printer prints like a champ. Ive  printed two things now both of which took well over an hour to print so its cant be the printer It’s got to be something I’m doing wrong with the “new” all in one repetier software. But I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Please Help me lol .

Are you using the same length USB cord?
Have you tried other laptop ports on your new laptop?

Is it exactly 5 minutes?  Any chance you have something in your power settings set to kick in at that time (screensaver, standby, power-down hard drive, etc)?

It is the same usb cable I have always used with this printer.
I have tried multiple usb ports.

Re: My printer will not print on my new pc, but works fine on my old one??

Ok so I checked the error log and im getting "extruder switched off. maxtem triggered." But this is only happening on my new PC. It still works fine on the old one? The maximum extruder temp on both pcs is set to 195C. What am I doing wrong?

Re: My printer will not print on my new pc, but works fine on my old one??

Why would max extruder temp be set so low? That is not right.

Have you checked what the temperature logs show?

Re: My printer will not print on my new pc, but works fine on my old one??

How about a screengrab of RH's temp graph?

when you say 'maximum extruder temp' do you mean what is set in the main screen of RH? sounds like your pid's need to be calibrated for the extruder... or the slicer settings (which override RH's temp settings) are way higher on one pc than the other

If your temp graph for the extruder in RH is jumping around like a rollercoaster you need to calibrate the PID's ---> http://www.soliwiki.com/PID_tuning

+1 for PID Tuning.
