Topic: Slic3r Not Providing a Skirt

I have been having issues with larger prints sticking and thanks to the help of AZERATE have overcome most quite a few hurdles!  I am now printing on a glass bed using hairspray and overall results are much better.

Currently printing a dragon from Thingiverse and was still having some small lifting issues, so it was suggested I add a skirt to the bottom to see if that would help.

I went into Slic3r (1.0.0RC3) settings under the Skirt and Brim section and set the following -

Loops - 4
Distance from Object - 0
Skirt Height - 1
Min Extrusion Length - 0
Brim Width - 0

I saved those settings, Sliced the object and started to print.  The result was no skirt.  Instead I received the default 1 loop, 6mm from the object.

I killed the print. Re-entered the Slic3r settings and verified my changes were still there.  They were.
I closed Repetier and reloaded the program, reconfirmed Slic3r settings and reSliced the object.  Still receiving default one loop...

Thoughts?

Skirt is the loop but you indicated four and only got one.  So make sure your using your changed profile when you slice it.
Brim is attached to the base of the part so try 3-5mm brim to get what your looking for.

Yes.. in slic3r, skirt is a line around the object to prepare the plastic in the hotend
What you need is a Brim

The good value are :
Loops - 1  (one line to 'fill ' the hotend )
Distance from Object - 5  (we put this line 5mm away from the model)
Skirt Height - 1 (one layer for the line)
Min Extrusion Length - 0
Brim Width - 4  (print a 4mm wide skirt around the model to reduce warping effect, easely removable)

Thank you both for the information.  After making the changes, I save them using the same name as I have before and that name appears as the Printer and Extruder settings name before I slice.  I will try changing the name to something different and test to see if that makes a difference.

I realized my mistake now...  Going back to the program, I now realize even though there is one Configure button, there are 3 different locations to choose configuration files - Print Settings, Printer Settings and Extruder 1.  Up until now, I had assumed selecting the '0.2 mm' setting for Print Setting was simply selecting the resolution.  I didn't realize it was connected to the profile '0.2 mm' AND that it was the settings in that profile determining if you received a brim or not.  I thought since I had my profile selected under Extruder 1, that is what was controlling all the settings.

So, Newbies outside of myself, be aware.  Lesson learned and problem solved.
