Topic: z-calibration on solidoodle 4
I just unpacked my new solidoodle 4. All the software works fine and I am talking to the printer with my computer. So far, so good. However, the print bed is approximately 1 inch below the extruder. When I try to print an object neither the extruder nor the bed go through an initialization sequence where, for instance, the bed would hit the limit switch in order to calibrate height. The z-adjust knob doesn't have nearly enough travel to make up for the 1 inch height gap. The result is that I just get stringy plastic printed.
In the attached photo, the green bar shows the height difference between the bed and the extruder (1 inch), and the red oval highlights the z-adjust. Is there an initialization sequence the I should be running so that the machine knows where the extrude/bed is along z? I have double checked that I have correctly put in the initialization/calibration numbers under "Printer Settings".
Any help would be much appreciated! Tom
