Topic: Print Bed only heats up to 68°C

Hey!

I am having a problem with my print bed (SD 2). It only heats up to 68°C even though it should be at 95..
I can barely make my part stick to the bed. I never had that problem before and it has nothing to do with the room temperature. I always printed on 95°C and never put the case over my Solidoodle - I have no idea what's wrong.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Salocin

For this run, the best thing to do is help would be to replace the bed. If it isn't getting up to temperature, it probably wont. It's old enough to warrant some repairs at this point.

You can either source a much better bed from us, that will perform well enough to get you in the ballpark of 100c, or you can upgrade your power supply to a 300 watt ATX supply, and go for a more powerful bed heater. That second choice will be slightly more complicated to pull off (and frankly, we Solidoodle, wont be able to help), but that will get you a major upgrade as to the minor one.

But don't be afraid to grab our heat pad. It's pretty decent, if a little under powered.

That was a good honest answer John.  Thank You
I would add that there are probably plenty of users here on the forum that have upgraded and would be willing to sell their Stock heater.

Thanks a lot for your answer. I am also thinking about buying the metal platform. I just saw that it is available for SD2 as well.. Seems legit.

Cheers!

EDIT:

What do you mean by a much better bed? Which bed do you recommend? I already have the metal plate, so i would only need a new heating pad right?

The bed we sell works fine, and if you have the SD2 Pro or expert power supply you will be fine to run *that one*

A lot of people here like the bed from QBD. There are also tons of other suppliers that give out more powerful beds. For a higher price you can get a bed that might reach higher temps, or heat more quickly.

The issue would be that you would need a more powerful power supply. A lot of people elect to simply control the bed separately via it's own dedicated power supply

Our current bed uses most of the potential of the current power supplies.

It's your choice. Either option will get you where you want to go.
