Topic: getting to print good .1 prints

so, I have a good setting with the stock program for solidoodle 3 that is on solidoodle's website.
but I run a lot of stuff through kisslicer, how do I set that up so its proper with what my settings are in reptierhost?

do I calibrate the same way as .3 on repetier host. with printing a box and checking the wall thickness, if so what should the wall thickness be for .1 prints, (for .3 prints wall thickeness should be .42)

let me know if im confusing or if I missed something.

thankyou.

Re: getting to print good .1 prints

What I found easiest you can remove the .42 and let slic3r adjust the wall thickness based on the established layer height-over-width formula... the .42/.48 stuff is just there to make it more predictable. With it set to 0, slic3r will auto-adjust the wall thickness to maintain the correct ratio (as you go to .1, you want a thicker wall to maintain the same ratio).

You need to therefore check the very top of outputted gcode to see what slic3r used for the perimeter width.

This way, you can move to any layer height and slic3r will just deal with the rest (and if calibrated correctly, what is .42 @ .3mm will work out to the same correctly calibrated adjusted width at .2mm - be that .53mm or whatever it happens to be ... - i.e, if done right with dilament width and multiplier, it will all adjust automagically...)

and once again I have no idea what you are saying,
do you have screenshots, pics, all with this info pointed out.

i don't need help with slic3r, i need help with KISSlicer, translating to my solidoodle 3, do i have to even mess with slic3r if i go through KISSlicer?

Re: getting to print good .1 prints

Well - I offered help with the standard default slic3r program as shipped with the solidoodle. Sorry.

For Kisslicer, you'll have to figure it out, but I'm sure kiss slic3r is capable of the same thing. If it isn't, it wont be, since development has stalled now so maybe it is a good time to move back to slic3r anyway...

For reference, this is all you need to do in Slic3r, is change these values to 0:

To understand what I meant about width/height and stuff; read  http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?1,125511,125511  and refer to the diagrams (and read the article) at http://hydraraptor.blogspot.com.au/2011 … -rate.html .

You can maintain the nozzle diameter for an outer perimeter, but for the best detail you want a 1.5:1 width/height ratio... not sure I'm capable of articulating it clearer than the above references do *shrug* sorry can't be of more assistance for you.

Re: getting to print good .1 prints

wow I really didn't understand any of those write ups.
I don't get it I guess.

anyone have videos or pictures of what these write ups or other write ups are talking about on how to get the solidoodle 3 to print good prints at .1mm after being sliced with KISSlicer?

I use KISSlicer, because of how well it makes supports.

my Slic3r dosnt do supports well at all it is either all or nothing.
with no adjustability.

All of that has been fixed since slic3r v1.0+ ; I suggest you try upgrading to the latest slic3r from http://slic3r.org . There you should also find information about how the support structure system was completely rewritten between 0.9.9 and 1.0RC1 ....

will it automatically update into my retierhost?

Re: getting to print good .1 prints

how do I get the newest slic3r to run with repetier-host like how it came off the solidoodle website for my solidoodle 3?

Re: getting to print good .1 prints

Rename the existing slic3r folder slic3r.old inside the repetier-host folder, then copy the slic3r folder from the downloaded zip into the repetier-host folder.
