Topic: Noob with no idea how to start :(

I recently purchased a SD4 but have never used a 3D printer and dont know anyone that owns or knows how to use one sad
The 3D printer arrived... BUT no instructions.. no manual... no software/CD...
Should the item have had these things in the box??

so basically, is there an area or site that details how to get started.

I purchased this just out of 3D curiosity, and am very computer literate.

I know there are procedures for setting up that must be done but no idea where to start or what to do.

Can someone please point me in the right direction.

This forum has no affiliation to Solidoodle who took your money and sent the printer.. So you might want to address your comments directly at Solidoodle customer service as this is a volunteer community with nothing to do with formal support of you printer, collecting your money, or what documentation isn't sent...

We are all generally happy to try and help, but issues with the lack of supplied documentation should go to the people who got you money - they really should start working for it wink

Hope the links provided help and have fun getting to your first print... its addictive.

Go to Hobby Lobby and buy a few 8" mirrors, buy a can of cheap hair spray. Take your time and don't worry about failures.

If your print hasn't failed, you're not printing. Even successful prints may have slicing settings that would make them even better. Knowing what to fine tune comes from experience.

I'm a little over a month into the learning curve and even though I've been printing almost every day I'm still learning a lot. This forum and the people in it were a major factor in going with a solidoodle. A lot of what I'm learning is really just making sense of what the more advanced people are discussing. It really is like drinking from a fire hose.  Whenever I hit something I can't figure out on my own, a couple quick searches on this forum usually gets me sorted out.

Without this forum i think i would have been dead in the water also, or would have taken months to figure something out haha. If your new and have a question just ask, we may also have the same question! lol
