Topic: Static Discharge stops Repetier Host

FYI. Found this one out by way of experience.

I've been using metal foreceps to clean off the SD2 nozzle.

If I do not static discharge myself on the SD frame before touching the nozzle, RH hangs with "Waiting on 1 command".

Perhaps plastic handles on the foreceps or non-conductive nozzle cleaning device will work best.

Re: Static Discharge stops Repetier Host

Invest in an inexpensive antistatic wrist band with an alligator clip on the end of the cord.  Amazon usually has them really cheap.   Just clip it to the Solidoodle frame before you dive in.   I always have to have one handy during the winter months when working around any electronics, because of the near epic-level zaps I can produce just by walking across a room...

[Edit:  Realistically, when working around any electronics, you should always be wearing one of these to prevent even invisible zaps from blowing chips and causing havoc.  With our 3D printers, it's mainly useful to prevent winter static zaps from doing what you described, or when we're working with our bare controller boards even during the summer.]
