Topic: What size pullys to upgrade to?

I ordered lM8uu bearings and bearings for the y rod and idlers as well. Should come in this week.

I will replace the carriages and y rod with bearings

But while in there I might as well do the GT2 upgrade.

What size pully do I need for the Y rod in rear and idlers? For the Servo to Y rod and white size belts for the y and servo and pitches?

I do not see any threads when I search GT2 or pullys? Should be a sticky

you neeed three 6mm bore  pullys and  and five 5mm bore pulleys.

LMAO yes I spelt it wrong here but searched multiple GT2 pulley pully pullies etc LOL
I saw your thread but it still isn't clear about the size. I know they are 6mm bore GT2 or 5mm but the width pitch belt length.

The pitch is determined by the fact it is GT2, which is 2mm. Length will be the same as your old belts, do a rough measure and then add abit more to be safe.

If you buy 2m from a place like this, you should have plenty:

Thanks Yes I realized like you found out there are no 6mm GT2 pulleys! LOL
So I guess have to switch to 5mm rod. Not a bad thing but didn't plan for it now that I have bearings for 6mm fixes.

I will leave alone for now do the xy linear bearing upgraded and I am sure that will help my skip steps.

There are 6MM GT2 out there but very hard to find, and a couple places that will cut the bore hole to your specification. I used 16 tooth 5MM GT2 and replaced all the pulleys in the box, the 6MM issue was easily solved by using a 6MM drill bit in the tailstock of a lathe with the pulley squarely in the chuck and opening the 5MM hole to 6MM, the ONLY way it can be done and be assure that the hole and pulley remain concentric.

I originally tried to drill it out with a cordless and it wasn't pretty. Depending on the pulley the walls ight not be thick enough to cope with the removal of 1mm.

Opening the hole 1mm means you're actually only taking a 1/2mm off each "side" when properly squared and indexed in machine tooling, if the walls are so thin that they can't take the loss of that little material I wouldn't consider using them at all, with or without drilling. Even with a drill press it would be very difficult to correctly hold the pulley and bore the hole square, definitely not even remotely possible with a hand drill...

If you don't mind converting to a more commonly available 1/4 inch rod (6.35mm) you can get 18 tooth GT2 pulleys here... http://www.robotdigg.com/news/42/GT2-Pu … w-Families

The issue mainly came from losing the 1/2mm of grub screw thread.
