Topic: Rough Parts On Section of Printbed

Recently I had to replace the Acrylic section of the extruder because it was all broken into peices.  I know I should have printed one of the replacement extruders and it was on my ToDo List but I was having to much fun printing everything else and no, I haven't printed one since I put the new parts on.  In my own defense, you will see why I have been delaying printing it.

[Why can't I post a link to a online photo]

I printed 3 rows of these parts.  Only those on the row closest to the back of the bed came out with all the bumps. The parts on either end look like the normal results I would expect.  The printer has messed up a couple of times and crashed into the extents and my feeling is that I need to replace the belts, which I have ordered.  I read on a couple of other threads here that others were experiencing pulsing in the extruder motor but wouldn't that show in all the parts?

Also, when it prints over these sections, they are very rough and the head bounces a lot.  How close to the guide rods should the white Delrin blocks be on the back of the extruder?  I have 2 photos of this but I'm afraid they don't show the 1/8th inch space between the bottom block and the guide rod.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Belts look fine.
Teflon blocks look fine.

You are over extruding. You need to calibrate your extruder. Head to the wiki.

Re: Rough Parts On Section of Printbed

I went through the tuning guides for the extruder and set it per the instructions and it didn't help the weired waves at all.  So I disconnected the motors and ran them back and forth a bit and it looked like the filament caused the head to tip when the head would move back to the very back of the print bed.  I then tried to move the Delrin block on the back of the extruder and it was very loose.  I slid the block lightly up against the guide rod and tightened the nut down to just past finger tight.  Then I went back through the extruder calibration and things look much nicer now but everything seems to be running really really slowly!

First cube had a wall thickness of .54 at 100%
Second cube wall was .47  at 82%
Third cube wall thickness was .46 at 81%

How close to .42 should I try to get?

I loaded up one of the design I print frequently.  First layer looks terrible!

I fixed my problems due to the head tilting near the back of the print bed with this thing:
