Wardjr, could we please have a post in the Hacks/Mods section of the forum describing how you eventually got the AC heated bed wired up? That is one of the coolest mods I've seen yet, and I'd love to do it too if possible! I'm getting tired of being stuck at 85 degrees with the stock bed.

It is probably time I get motivated and do exactly that. In the mean time I'm always willing to answer your questions.
I also find that different brands and types of ABS adhere to the print bed differently. For example I like the green color ABS from Octave. However I've had my issues with it warping, especially on large prints. When this happens I break out the Elmer's glue stick and slather it on the glass. This usually does the trick. I do however wish that my platform heated up faster and to a higher temp and may be in for a MK2 other upgrade this year.
^ So your solution is a bit deceptive. it could be either the car charger with 50Amps that was helping, or the fact that you are running 14V instead of 12V.
V= IR, P = I^2 R, So if you increase (14/12) 16.7% voltage, you are increasing by 36% the power going to the heater.
That's correct except I ended up with the same results from just the battery at 12V. So the test is still valid the charger was just a temp fix that got me by until I came up with a better solution. For me that solutions was remove the load of the bed heater from the board via SSR. At that point I just fixed the bad connections on the stock PSU and it functions just fine with the reduced load.

I still have my old heat pad... I'm going to experiment with it a little bit and see if I can't come up with anything useful as far as getting more out of it. The worst thing that can happen is I burn it out.
Wardjr, thank you for the tip.. Im going to try adding that reserve battery, hopefully that solves the heater probs..
Otherwise no matter how high I set the board temp, 85c is it.
