Topic: Need Help Calibrating Extruder

I'm looking through the wiki for calibrating the extruder and it's telling me to download version 0022 of the Arduino software.. but I can seem to find a link for anything earlier than 1.0.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for calibration?

Re: Need Help Calibrating Extruder

take a look at  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZGdMc2ebPo

Another thing ,if you are using Repetier host, after you watch the video and do the math, open RH.You can  enter the results  under config/firmware eeprom configuration, no need to update the firmware as video shows. This is from a later post by IAN

SD3, E3D hotend, linear bearing on x/y axis',pillow block bearing on y conneting rod, ball bearngs on front y axis, fan on y stepper motor.

Re: Need Help Calibrating Extruder

Just for completeness, if you are on a mac, the RH firmware options wont work.

You need to use the manual g-code commands to update and then save eeprom
http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code#M92:_Set_ … s_per_unit
http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code#M203_-_Se … m_feedrate

To see current EEPROM; use M501 . To save changes permanently to eeprom set via M92/M203 ; use M500 .

Re: Need Help Calibrating Extruder

Hey Adrian, I'm running RH on a mac and have a lovely blank menu when I select the eeprom configuration. I've been reading as much as I can on workarounds but I am not sure where to enter a M92 command.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

nb : use the box at the top of the "Manual" tab in Repetier-Host... type it in, click 'send', replies appear down the bottom in the log window.

Re: Need Help Calibrating Extruder

Adrian, I ended up putting it in the start code section of the g code tab. (see pic).

It took me a couple of tries to realize that I had entered the steps per unit in brackets, and the extruder wouldn't feed any filament.

I removed them and it extruded as it should have and there was a noticeable difference in the print.

I was able to finish calibrating my extruder (SD3) as per the solidoodle guides/wiki.

All good, thanks!
