Topic: Printable SD2/3 LED filter

I recently posted a cheap but cool mod to change the color of the LEDs without buying a new strip.
After I FINALLY got around to it, I remixed http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:118182 by extending the lower arm, and completely removing the lip.
Purple has a soft blacklight effect, but I have no photos of that as proof as of right now. I am curious how blue or green would look on it. smile
Since I have not seen an SD4 in person, I cannot say if this would work on one. STL and Sketchup files are included for customizing as you see fit. The inside corners can be covered by using blue painters tape.

Print and use as you wish, hope you guys like it.

Re: Printable SD2/3 LED filter

Or you could buy a 15ft. roll of RGB LED's with a controller, and change the colors to anything you want when you want it, by simply dialing in the color you want.

They're cheap and with a 15ft roll you can literally wrap the whole printer in it if you wanted to.

I usually prefer a soft warm glow, but sometimes I let it auto-cycle through all the color spectrum when I leave it on at night, I just turn down the brightness.

That is pretty cool...AND CHEAP! Thanks for sharing!
It is significantly cheaper to just print them, but I think I'll have to pick one up in the future.

Thanks for stealing my thunder pirvan smile

Re: Printable SD2/3 LED filter

I did it using this controller: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004IJ … &psc=1

and a 60 led 1 meter 5050 rgb led strip that used to be on amazon for $5.  (looks like these: http://www.amazon.com/5050-color-Decora … d+strip+1m)

total ended up being a little less than $8 with free shipping because the "other buying options" sellers were the cheapest.
