Topic: Acrylic base/electronics enclosure/LCD holder (Level 4 - Beta Testers)

Hi all,

I haven't done much printing of late, due to moving house and playing with my CNC router. I have managed to get the router to assist with the Solifoodle, however.

For a long time I've wanted to move the electronics, power supply, z-stepper motor, etc to a custom enclosure under the printer. I've also wanted a proper mains cord plug and a decent on/off switch.

This mod achieves all of this and although it's not quite finished in places, I'm generally happy with the outcome.

It also has input and output fans for electronics cooling, as well as a Raspberry pi mounted to run Octopi in future.

More pics and details to come as time allows.

Very nice!

I've often thought the standard SD form factor was kind of unwieldy, especially for someone like me, who is allowed to bring it in from the garage on weekends to occupy precious kitchen countertop space.

Have you considered doing anything special with the filament spool?  It might be kind of cool to have it on top or below (with a bowden) to minimize the tabletop space used thus giving the printer a minimal footprint.  The spool holder might double as a handle.

That looks great! Love the big OH GOD mushroom button.

I was thinking of doing something very similar... Planning to make 4 feet with slots for 3mm board/acrylic on the printer for each corner, and sitting the printer on top.
