Just a hunch, see if the filament is still aligned with the bearing. The bearing should as close to center as possible. I mean  the drive gear and bearing should align.

SD3, E3D hotend, linear bearing on x/y axis',pillow block bearing on y conneting rod, ball bearngs on front y axis, fan on y stepper motor.

Re: new printer stopped mid print extrudor wont move now

I was just about to start a new thread when I saw this one.
My printer has a similar problem. I was printing , about 30 minutes into a 2 hour print and the printer froze. I manually move the head and finally got it to move from a command.
Now I have it in a situation where I can get connected, turn on the plate heater and nozzle heater and check X Y and Z motion all seems well except when the nozzle heater gets to temperature, the whole system freezes again. This is about 3 to 5 minutes from initial connect and turning the heaters on.
Is there some safety shut off on the nozzle heater?
If so what is the temperature that triggers it?

Re: new printer stopped mid print extrudor wont move now

look in the error log at the bottom of RH's screen, if the extruder goes above a set limit it will trigger a freeze and will show in the log.

Also if this is what it is doing then check the temp graph screen on RH, you may need to run the atuotune PID's for the heater.

ok so i fixed the problem my heat was just getting to high but now my prints will print and about 3 layers in they stop sticking i have a solidoodle 2 base model and i have painters tape on the printing area also  what is your baud rate set aut because i know its suppose to be 2500 but i cant get that so i have it set on 2880

Re: new printer stopped mid print extrudor wont move now

the newer sd2's with the printrboard mainboard will work with any baud rate not just 250000.

did you do the autotune for the hotend PID's ?

Assuming he means 250000 and not 2500 or 2880 as written wink The printrboards 'dont care' about baud rate purely because the USB is inside the AVR and doesn't rely on the serial port baud rate, but the PC still talks to it via a traditional VCP so it needs to be an appropriate speed on the PC side of things...

And also - just checking - why the blue painters tape ? thats usually reserved for printing PLA, not ABS.. am I missing something ? that could be the non-sticking issue (since ABS will hold to tape for a short while,.. but not long...)

you would be correct xD  and also yea sorry but i seriously cant get stuff to stick it gets a few layers in and it pops up it is really annoying any other way to counter that ? im planning on upgrading to a heated bed within the few weeks i just wanna be able to print now

Re: new printer stopped mid print extrudor wont move now

Ah yes, no HBP... My bad smile Still, blue tape aint the best for ABS cold..

could try abs/acetone mix till its a paste, then paint it onto the blue tape so its a thin layer of ABS when it dries.

That might do it for you.

I will try that smile i m also just gonna try printing on the bed itself with no tape or anything

also could it be that im using abs instead of pla ?

Re: new printer stopped mid print extrudor wont move now

Yes, PLA is the normal filament for printing on blue tape with no heat.

welp looks like i need to go get some pla xD
