Topic: Designing Helper

Wanted to start designing mods, but I'm a firm believer in having a digital version of what your trying to design something for.  I made a digital Solidoodle 3, minus the insides.  The file is for Solidworks, if you need it in any other file format, let me know I'll convert it.

***UPDATE***

New file, Added a lot more detail.

Re: Designing Helper

Very nice! I think it would be handy to have in STL for those without solidworks.

Re: Designing Helper

I would think a step file would be best... .stl is fine...if you want to print the enclosure... but for modifying it,, .stp is the way...

Cool.  Thanks.  You just saved me some time.  So my day just got longer ... I guess.

Re: Designing Helper

Here is a 3D PDF for those of you that want to play around with it.  I added a couple of material textures to give it a more realistic look.

You'll need Acrobat Reader 9 or newer to handle 3D PDFs

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...
SD3 printer w/too many mods,  Printrbot Simple Maker Ed.,  FormLabs Form 1+
AnyCubic Photon, Shining 3D EinScan-S & Atlas 3D scanners...
...and too much time on my hands.

Re: Designing Helper

Loaded it up and have been playing around, super handy!
Nice work! You've captured all the important bits for designing exterior panels and filament mounts etc.
I can now design mods before my printer even arrives... Thanks! big_smile
