Topic: How long to get replacement parts?

I ordered a new nozzle for my SD2 last Sunday. Checking the website today, it still hasn't shipped.  I sent an email to support but didn't get a reply.

Has anyone else had trouble getting timely replacement parts?

I am confused...
For the very small difference in price why wouldn't you just order an E3D from filastruder.  Shipping is fast and reliable and the service is great.

But for the E3D to work, it seems like the Stepper motor has to be changed right?

I asked support the same thing when I ordered my parts. From my understanding of their explanation, all orders (whether printers are parts) go into a queue and ship out in order. So if there is 100 printers in front, you have to wait for those to ship, even if you just want a piece of kapton.

I only ordered the nozzle and tube ($15).  The E3D was much more since it is the whole assembly. 

I still may get it but I also got a PI and arduino for Christmas so am struggling with which hobby to invest in. I want it all! smile

I assume you're referring to some posts about swapping the stepper *driver* to a DRV8825 for 1/32 microstepping to reduce moire. I can't attest personally as to whether the E3D makes moire slightly more noticeable (since it's much more precise) as I had already switched to a DRV months ago -- I think that's an orthogonal improvement anyway. Kinda like switching from a paint roller to a fine tip marker (ok, that's a bit(?) of an exaggeration smile ) and blaming the marker because now you can see that your hand actually shakes when drawing lines. smile Also, just drawing with a lighter-handed stroke (adjust trimpot), as someone already noted, goes a long way too.

You definitely don't need to change the stepper *motor* though.

ahhhh yup, but I am running the Printrboard sad So I won't be able to switch the Stepper Driver. So for my case I would need to change the extruder motor right?

Nope - all you need to do is twiddle the VREF trimpot. Be careful not to fall into the easy trap of over-thinking mods/problems/solutions smile
