Topic: Walkthrough for Mounting the Bulldog XL and E3D?

I finally got my Bulldog XL and E3D in the mail the SD Bulldog mount printed and am ready to go.
Can anyone walk me through installing it? I could help make a walkthrough for other people to use and post it here.

Where there any additional bolts or wires I needed? Don't want to start putting this in and get caught up halfway through.

Are you using the mount from this post?

If so it is pretty straight forward and no additional hardware is needed.
As far as the install of the E3D you can follow this http://www.soliwiki.com/E3D_extruder
Installing the Bulldog is fairly simple you need to connect the fan to 12V use the wires that connected the fan on your old extruder.  The fan that comes with the E3D is not needed as the one for the bulldog works just fine.  Just make sure you remove the support for the fan hole on the mount and take care to get all the support cleaned up where the fan mounts.

I am, rev10. I have it printed and ready to go.. Just want to make sure I don't hook the wires up wrong for the motor as they are a different color than the ones from the old extruder. Let me take another look through the thread.

Okay.. at the firmware area.. do I do anything different because I have a Solidoodle 3?? The instructions are for a 2 so I am assuming they might be a little dated.

The firmware change is mostly for max temperature since the E3D can print at much higher temps.  It's also needed for proper assembly of your E3D.  Other than that you are changing the thermistor from type one to type 6.  This only applies if you actually change the thermistor.  Several users (myself included) have just used the stock thermistor.  In this case you don't need to change the thermistor type.

Excellent. We kept the stock thermistor on there and figured we could use the one that came with the E3D as backup. It's all connected now and we are about ready to try some test prints. Thanks for all your help! smile
