Topic: 40mm Fan types?

I have a 40mm fan installed onto my special cooling cover for my solidoodle motherboard.  After a couple days worth of printing its gotten a bit louder.  Obviously something is wearing out.  Can anyone point me toward where i could get a fan that will last?  I need a few of them for another printer and for addons to this one.  Thanks!

Re: 40mm Fan types?

Most of the fan made these days are like that even the ball bearing fans don't last like they did in the past although they do last quite a bit longer than their ball-less counterparts. I have got some ballbearing fans off ebay they're ok... but at over ten times the price... hard to say if they last ten times as long or not.

You can easily oil the fan you have to extend it's life quite a bit or as a preventive measure makes them last a lot longer because I don't think they oil the bushings much if at all during assembly, just peel the sticker back on the fan and use a toothpick or similar to get one drop of machine oil in the hole where the shaft resides and voila no more noise smile

Noctua are basically the leading brand of quiet cooling fans for the gaming pc market.
Didn't get one return of their gear whilst I worked at PCCG warehouse.

This is a crowd funding thing that I'm running: http://www.gofundme.com/bvi140 It's for pretty selfish reasons tongue

Yea. The Noctua are expensive compared to other fans, but are incredibly quiet and reliable.
