Topic: "Printer stopped due to errors" Error. please help

O k this has been hitting me all damn day and its driving me insane.  Here is all the info I have.  Printing in abs.  Bed set to 110 and extruder set to 200.  after about 8 - 10 minutes of printing it stops dead and starts scrolling the "Printer stopped due to errors.  Fix the error and use M999 to restart.  (Temperature is reset. Set it after restarting)" error.  I can still control all axis and after I let it sit for a while it will start printing again.  The other thing I noticed is the manual temp controls in RH seem a little lagged now, I have to hit it twice in order to "preheat" the printer.  Also the fan on the back of the extruder is probably bad already, making a lot of noise, I have to tap it to get it to run quietly.  Planning on grabbing a new one soon. 

     Now I'm thinking that this is some kind of overheat issue but I don't know why, I've read people have their printers set to 205 and 210 (yes I know it reads 30 degrees less than actual temp)  and when I try to print at 190 it seems like the layers don't melt together as well.  once again thank you for any help you can offer.  Going to continue printing and try to see what temp setting it stops Overheating (???)  at.  maybe I'll have more info for you.

If you look at your temp graph in RH it will probably show some pretty high peaks, you need to calibrate the PID's for the temp controller. There is an autotune function of the F/W that will do this for you: http://www.soliwiki.com/PID_tuning

The fan on the extruder will not cause this error although if it stops it can cause filament jams, it is the same cheap fan that come on $2000.00 computers... you can usually get some oil on the fans bushing by removing a sticker to get to the shaft or change it out with a more costly ball bearing fan... however even the BB fans are not lasting very long in my experience these days, might have something to do with where they are made or lack of QC.

Yeah its still doing it after the calibration.  getting alot of this  "23:21:20.943 : echo: cold extrusion prevented".  I have no idea what to do now about this.  Extruder is definately not holding a constant temp.    what should the temp graph look like?

It should look like a very smooth line with only the slightest of wiggles.

temp is fluctuating about 50 degreese.    my layers are seperating (i believe its called delaminating).  ive run the hot end calibration, checked the eeprom and made sure the changes were in there.  im at a loss.  is my hardware broken?  or is this still settings?  The only other thing i can think of is i bought a longer usb cable ( 10 ft).  but i had a 2 hour print come out great the other day.......   then everything went to hell.  Anyone from solidoodle wanna chime in?

My guess is that it's a bad thermistor or some part of the electronics causing this.  a 70 degree temperature drop and then peak all in 10 seconds is not possible (at least with the stock hot-end).  Email Solidoodle support and see what they think.

Once the electronics see a temp below 160C it will issue that error same thing when it sees a temp greater than 215C(or whatever it is..) it issues 999 error.

You most likely have a bad connection at one of the IDC connections on the printhead but for sure a loose or faulty connection relating to the printhead thermistor

Next round of trouble shooting.  (BTW thank you all so much for helping me out with this)  I've been heating for 45 minutes and only the slightest variations in temp.

I did notice at one point that RH dropped the temp in the manual control down to 184 when i set it to 205, but I raised it again and its been solid.  Other than that I was moving all axis, wiggling every wire I could find and absolutely nothing.  Blowing on it makes the temp jump 6 to 10 degrees in either direction, but once it recovers the line stays solid.  Going to attempt a print and see what happens.

uuuhhhhhhh   ok.    Maybe loose connection was this issue.   Again,  thanks all of you for your help.  You guys are the best support I've ever seen in a forum!!!!!

basically fell out of the shrink wrap tube.   re-solder and off we go. no more spikes when moving or wiggling wires.  Once again you guys were awesome!   Thank you for helping me with this!

Can anyone please explain what the two graphs are for, and what the different colored lines are?  Are any of them suppose to be the setpoint, actual temperature, and/or power output?  Or more importantly, is there a help manual somewhere that explains all the different tabs and options?

^^ The latest RH program has a legend in the upper corner with selectable items so you can turn on/off any of the channels/colors

red line is actual temp. purple is actual print time, if you kill the print it drops out.  bottom lines are the hotbed, same thing, one is actual temp, one is if its on or off, ect ect.
