Topic: Stuck on exporting Gcode?

I'm trying to print this. http://www.myminifactory.com/object/view/176/Gyro-balls downloaded form there too.

It's quite complicated and when I tried to import the STL into repetier on the 2 old laptops i use (single core, barely 2ghz CPU, 2gb ram max), repetier crashed.

So I tried it on a couple of newer PCs (one 2.4 ghz core 2 quad, the other 1.6ghz i7, both at least 4gb ram and dedicated graphics).

They both imported the files ok, if a little slow, seemed to slice it up ok, but both have been stuck on exporting gcode for over an hour.

The log just says the usual exporting gcode text.

I have tried repairing the file with netfabb but it didn't flag up any problems.

Anyone got any ideas? printed this design before?

Re: Stuck on exporting Gcode?

Use Kisslicer to generate the g-code. Then import into RH.

Re: Stuck on exporting Gcode?

I'm sure Kisslicer may give great results but setting it up is even less user friendly than repetier/slic3r. I could put up with that, but I can't find any up to date guides (even kisslicer's guide is out of date) or config files for it.

Could you upload screen dumps with your settings, or config files please? Maybe with info of what settings I need to change for various settings?

Re: Stuck on exporting Gcode?

Its rather easy to set up. Luckily for you we have a whole thread dedicated to Kisslicer http://www.soliforum.com/topic/348/kisslicer/

I'm still running v1.0.9.7 but I think there are more current versions.
