Topic: Power Supply Replacement/Upgrade Questions

My power supply is showing some wear and im wanting to replace it before it actually quits working.  What is and easy ( little to no futzing with) replacement power supply.  I have seen where some people put a 360w power supply on them but dont know enough about it to know if its a PITA or if its pretty much a plug and play.  I saw were SD has the 150W power supply's for like $50 but if i can spend that same (or less....or more) on something that will work better i have no problem with that.  I just dont want to get into a whole lot of trouble because i just want it to work and be an easy replacement.  I did a little searching but nothing that was really an answer to my questions.  Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Power Supply Replacement/Upgrade Questions

LOL I will not get until later today. It looks like all you have to do is add  a line cord with proper size corrector. What board do you have?

Re: Power Supply Replacement/Upgrade Questions

I asked on SD google groups , SD tech responded with:

We can not disclose the specifications of our hardware. Our power supply's can be purchased here.
Umm I have already spent half the price of  a new printer on spare parts and they won't even  answer a simple question.I'll be darn if I am going to buy Their PS just to get power plug.

Re: Power Supply Replacement/Upgrade Questions

Which is odd since the specs of the thing are written on the power supply..  12V at *too lazy to get up and look at the sticker* amps.

Re: Power Supply Replacement/Upgrade Questions

I was asking about the physical dimensions of the dc jack and power plug.

Re: Power Supply Replacement/Upgrade Questions

Oh, sorry. This is why I shouldn't be on here when not sleeping.  Lemme measure them to the best of my ability.

The barrel is 5.5mm OD, 2.5mm ID and 12.5mm in length. I wonder if thats a standard..

this should work

Just noting it has a fairly loud fan. With E3D doesn't matter (about the same loudness), but I also use it to power a RasPi and when printer is off and the PSU fan never turns off completely (even at 0.5A draw), so I ended up changing to the 20A version which is fanless.
