Topic: First time Solid doodle 2 pro user

I know these will be common question, but I was hoping someone can push me in the right direction.
First. I have a Solid Doodle 2 Pro

-I am having trouble with filament sticking to the base. Does hairspray work? or should I get more Kapton tape and ruff it up with sandpaper? I am pretty sure that my bed is level so I don't think it is that. Also I feel like my first layer distance is good as well.

-When it homes at the start of each print I hear and see a loud 'clank' from the 'Y' motor. I think that the end stop is not telling it the right information or something else? I checked all the wires they look good.

-Lastly I was wondering if someone has good Slic3r settings? If you could send me some screen shots that would be great!! Merry Christmas!

Welcome to the forum esterpa smile check out this area for tips on just about everything --> http://www.soliforum.com/forum/6/helprepairmaintenance/ sticking can be tricky at first but once you get the hang of it it's pretty simple, lots of things come into play- printhead speed, extrusion rate, hotend temp, bed temp, humidity, how clean the bed is, how squished the first layer is...

the y endstop may need a bit of shimming this has happened to a few printers, just a layer or two of tape on the switch arm or the part that contacts it so the switch trips a little sooner than hitting the endstop.

Aquanet works wonders when you have sticking issues.  Once you start printing, the Kapton will start to have a rough surface that will help the first layer stick.  Also make sure your bed is level.  Hope these tips will help

Yea, bed level is fantastically important, but also hard to measure, so I spent a long time fighting with it. I eventually invented this thing: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:171900 which finally allowed me to get accurate bed level readings.

Thanks everyone!

Does anyone have a suggestion for proper Slic3r settings? Or maybe just a couple tips about configuration?
