Topic: Broken belt and y-axis carriage

I finally got my printer to the UK, after posting it to myself nearly 3 months ago... but it's borken tongue

I'm looking for suggestions to fix the y-axis carriage and belt.  Basically the extruder assembly flew off, snapping the belt and lower carriage.  I have all the parts, and could probably superglue everything but the belt to try and print more parts... but I thought I'd put it all out there for advice first.

Q1:  Where do I order new belts?  Note that it's about $42 shipping to the UK, so I'm reluctant to get a small part from solidoodle.  I do find the belts online, eg http://www.americanmademro.com/shop/pc/ … 8p5218.htm.

Q2:  Is anything likely to prevent me from just gluing this back together?

SD2 Sanguinololu 1.3a atmega1284p, wood platform, lawsy's carriages, braided fishing line, pallet wood overhead spool mount, carboard/magnet enclosure, glass bed, E3D v6, bed levelling knobs, extended z-stop, 25A DC-DC SSR for bed heater, everything fixed to the SD2 frame, marlin firmware with some adjustments and extra failsafes enabled.  I'll never give up on you, little printer that could(n't)!

You should be fine to glue it back together.  just make sure the superglue or abs glue cures completely before you put stress on it.

This should work as a substitute for the belt and be easy to get ahold of.

That looks great!  I'll post my results when I come back from vacation and do it smile.  I like the no wrap pulley, and I will order some spectra line (or something mentioned in the thread).

Alternatively: Where did belt snap? If close to edge, could punch new hole and just get longer M3 screw to attach to carriage.

Well at least it didn't break the jigsaw.

It should be easy to repair the belt if it did just rip the end hole out, I've used fabric and epoxy to make similar repairs.
