Topic: vishay sfernice rb57 heating resistor

On the solidoodle website they show a sfernice rb57 resistor as a spare part.  Is this a picture of the actual part?  Is it unique, or are there other "sfernice rb57" resistors?

Where can I buy this in the UK and avoid a $42 shipping cost to get a $3 part?

I looked around a little, and I don't find a unique resistor with the RB57 designation.  Not even a unique size.  They are 7 watts at 70+ degrees though.

If anyone has bought this from solidoodle, or has the aluminum block extruder, can you please measure the (cold) resistance and post it here?  Thanks!

SD2 Sanguinololu 1.3a atmega1284p, wood platform, lawsy's carriages, braided fishing line, pallet wood overhead spool mount, carboard/magnet enclosure, glass bed, E3D v6, bed levelling knobs, extended z-stop, 25A DC-DC SSR for bed heater, everything fixed to the SD2 frame, marlin firmware with some adjustments and extra failsafes enabled.  I'll never give up on you, little printer that could(n't)!

4.9 - 5.0 ohms on a aluminum block SD2 (actual resistance cold(65F))

Re: vishay sfernice rb57 heating resistor

Hey all, support contacted me to say I might try this one:

And that:
The main thing is as long as it is 6.8 ohms and the diameter is 6mm you will be able to use it.

(and presumably it should be wire wound, right?)

If you live in the US, probably going with solidoodle's resistor is best, but otherwise, shipping costs are crazy!

Here are some of the other threads covering the resistor:

You can also get regular heater cartridges that fit in the SD's bore but they can be hard to find the shorter low wattage ones.
