Topic: $400 dollar polished quartz bed

Hi everyone,

This is an interesting and expensive hack/test that I will be conducting to say the least haha.
I used to work at a quartz machining company years ago and have a couple of friends there.

I called them up since I've done a couple of favors for them in the past and just thought I would ask if
they had any scrap pieces of quartz.

Little did I know that they didn't have the size I needed so they cut a 16" diameter worth over 1300 dollars =0

Now I feel extremely bad and thankful at the same time but I'm extremely cautious to even use it since it's worth so much.

I'll post my results as I print on it

HOLY EXPENSIVE BATMAN!

Solidoodle 3, Bulldog XL Direct Drive, Well Nut for Z axis, borosilicate glass, E3D V6 Hot end, Custom Encloser, Lawsy Carriages with Linear Bearings and Polished 8mm Chrome rods.

No problem

It's definitely better then glass and pyrex and takes a lot less time then granite or tile
but for the price I would never purchase this for the slight benefit.

Only reason I'm testing this is because it was free

One cool thing you could do is heat it up to 1300°C and put it in the freezer and not a single crack would happen.

Probably much better then how my first prints with the solidoodle turned out wink lol
