Topic: kinking after MK5 install

Hey everyone.  I was wondering if anyone else had issues with filament getting twisted up on the extruder gear during a print after installing the MK5 jigsaw replacement.  Is there any thing I can do to combat it? Did I do something wrong?

I did, check alignment of the extruder gear with the peek barrel. Mine was off quite a bit. Moving it over seemed to help.

Another tip would be to slow down your printing speed.

Third, it's possible your extruder could be clogged.

I had a lot of problems with my MK5 and kinking right away. A lot of them were self induced. I tried 2 different stock hot ends and ended up ditching them for a E3D.

Worth every penny.

Alignment is important but apart from that I've only ever had problems like in the pic if something else was wrong:

- blockage in hot end
- extrusion temp too low
- printing too fast for hot end

ok great I will pull it apart and give it a cleaning and check the alignment. I've got an E3D coming I can't wait. I just might wait until I get it in! Thanks for your help guys!
