Topic: Jawhn's "Easy Bake Oven" Mod

Well, in reading on here how many folks believe that heating the ambient air around the print can help it stick / less likely to separate / make rainbows appear from nowhere, I started brainstorming a way to heat the air (enclosed mine, naturally) effectively and inexpensive-ly.

Easy Bake Oven. Everyone remembers those, right? I remember. I remember burning my fingers, the cookies, all sorts of things as a kid with the heat from a common halogen light bulb.

So, shutting up, here are some pics to better explain my crazy idea. It does a pretty swell job of heating the surrounding air.

(And always remember, the first mod everyone should immediately do to their Solidoodle 3 is to get a fan blowing onto that damn motherboard/PCB!)

Re: Jawhn's "Easy Bake Oven" Mod

I would consider adding aluminum tape to some of the bed's black plastic parts, to reduce the heat there.

This is a decent mod though in this particular case way big (smaller bulb may have been better?)

I personally use a spare heatercatridge mounted in a 1" square of aluminum with a heatsink and fan attached. Just made up with scraps i had. When my printer is closed and the heater is on, I get around 42 degrees celsius ambient.

What a bright idea.

I would aluminum foil around it to protect some of the plastic parts. Great job! Simplicity!
