Topic: Noctua 40mm fan

Added a Noctua 40mm fan to replace the extruder fan. Damn this thing is quiet. Can't even tell the SD is on anymore.

Blue ziptie is to hold the cable up so it folds nicely and doesn't run into the belt.

Re: Noctua 40mm fan

I take it you just cut off the old fan's cable and ran the new cable outside the cable bundle? I have the same fan and was planning to swap it in as well, but was thinking about cutting the cables and soldering to the old cables (or using the little cable splice gadgets that came with the Noctua).

Yea.. I was going to solder a connection right at the  extruder, but the wires wouldve been so short and tough to work with unless i unbundled everything. It was easier to just run the cable along the wire bundle and deal with the wire cutting in the back. I just used the splice gadgets in the back. Looks a little messy, but its the back so who cares. The noctua comes with an extension cable that is easily long enough as well. Other bonus, this way is if anything does go wrong itll be really easy to swap fans.

I'll probably tidy everything up when i'm ready to do the full carriage replacment and have everything loose.
