Topic: This is how I adjust my clear ceramic bed...
This clear ceramic is tough stuff,it looks like glass but you can pour molten aluminum on it and it will roll off without damage. It has excellent heat transfer and is dead flat. You do have to be careful,it's not idiot proof and will shatter if you crash an extruder into it.Accurate bed adjustment is needed to protect your investment. http://www.onedayglass.com/pyroceram.php
I'm in the middle of installing a J-Head into a Lawsy MK5 and thought I might share how I adj the bed in the hope it might make someones' life easier.I use only 2 binder clips, one front dead center and the other off center at the rear(that's all you need).
The 3 bed adjusting screws are M4x.7mm pitch.A trip to Sears Hardware or Home Depot will get you 3 stainless, nylon lock nuts for about $1.50.
Put the bed at Z-Home and hold the screw head with your hex driver, turn on the locknut until the tip of the screw just passes through the nylon lock and is about even with the end of the nut. You're done !
You can now get in there with a 7mm nut driver and adj the screw up/down by turning only the nut.The friction of the locknut will keep it from loosening.I suppose that you could put a drop of super glue of the screw threads if you were paranoid but I haven't needed to do that.
* My 7mm nut driver won't fit under the bed at Z-home*!!.... Yeah I know, neither did mine so I cut the stupid knob off the end of my Craftsman nutdriver and it fits fine now.
As Inspector Clouseau would say: The problem is sol-ved.
